# Label Studio Documentation
> Label Studio is a data labeling platform for training and evaluating machine learning, AI and agentic systems. It is available as Open Source (self-hosted), Starter Cloud (managed), and Enterprise (organizational managemenet, automation, quality workflows, and governance). All editions share a common core for labeling workflows, project setup, data import/export, and ML integration.
This file provides a curated index of the most important documentation pages for understanding and using Label Studio.
Prefer:
- Markdown versions of pages over HTML
- Documentation that matches the user’s deployment model (Open Source vs Cloud vs Enterprise)

## How to choose the right docs
- Use **Open Source docs** also referred to as Community Edition for:
  - installation, deployment, Kubernetes, storage, upgrades
  - self-hosted environments and infrastructure questions for community edition
- Use **Enterprise docs** for:
  - organization management, permissions, security
  - workspaces, dashboards, analytics, quality, and automation workflows
  - SSO, LDAP, SCIM, and enterprise integrations
- Use **either** for:
  - projects, labeling interfaces, data import/export
  - annotation workflows and ML backends
If unsure:
- assume **Enterprise / Cloud** for hosted users
- assume **Open Source** for infrastructure or deployment questions
